In Water Training

Hi,

On Sunday June 16th 2013, 8am at Bells Rapids, bottom car park, we are conducting our First In-Water Training Session, Rain, hail or shine.

We will be covering the following:

  •  Priorities & Absolutes
  • Hydrology
  • Swim Through
  • Defensive/Aggressive Swimming
  • Eddy Hopping (throw bag prac for shore based, if required)
  • Shallow Water Crossing
  • Tether Release
  • Righting a Capsized Kayak
  • Leg Entrapment (land run through)
  • Spinal Injury Management
  • Throw bags
  • Contact Rescue
  • Deep Water Entry (if there is enough water)
  • Strainer Swim

Morning Tea and Lunch will be provided.

This is a FULL DAY event.

If you intend on getting into the water this year you MUST turn up to either this event or the next In-Water Training so we can make sure our teams are evenly split with competent rescue swimmers.

Even if you aren't interested in getting into the water, this is a good training day and shore based personnel can get some good training rescuing swimmers with your throw bags.

At the end of the day there will be a scenario which will need both in-water and Land based personnel to conduct a rescue.

Make sure you do your rain dances and then please reply to this email and let me know if you are attending or if you cannot make this event so we can organize catering and Team Numbers.

Regards
